About Lorraine Roberts


Lorraine Roberts, the founder, senior instructor  and artistic / choreographic lead at  London Skate Crew has worked extensively as a choreographer / performer on and off skates  and as a skate instructor / specialist.


Highly qualified (ICP Level 3 / BRSF 2)  and with a wealth of experience in teaching skating, dance and choreography, Lorraine teaches, produces and advises on all things skate.


Her work spans film, TV, theatre and schools, and she has worked extensively alongside a number of other skate organisations who provide skate instruction services, most notably Roller Disco in Vauxhall, one of the most well known roller skating venues worldwide.

Skate Instruction Experience

Lorraine  has been teaching Skating for too many years to remember. i.e 10 years plus.  Here first Teching work was with Roller Disco  Kings Cross before moving to Roller Disco Vauxhall and then becoming a qualified skate instructor. Lorraine is only one of three skate Instructors in the UK qualified to Level 3 ICP and is also BRSF cetified Level 2.Cliets have ranged from  Roller Discos, Private Clients, Roller Derby Teams and Theatre Companies  and  Lorraine is Known for her indepth knowledge of  the technical aspects of skating and her  beleif in the importance of Learning is best undertaken when you are enjoying it.



Dance Experience


Originally trained as a dancer and choreographer, Lorraine performed extensively for others before setting up LORRAINE ROBERTS AND CO, a professional dance company specialising in contemporary dance and physical theatre. The company performed at venues including the Lillian Baylis Theatre and The Place Theatre in London before Lorraine decided to go back to follow her childhood passion of skating. Having never looked back Lorraine now works as a choreographer both on and off skates and is an experienced advisor and producer of all things skate and dance on skates.


 

Dance and Skating


Since undertaking her career as a skate instructor Lorraine has returned to her dance and choreography roots but with skating as the emphasis.


Her work has taken her and London Skate Crew to far flung places including Singapore and Stockholm promoting the fun and health benefits of skating and dance on skates.


Late in 2013 Lorraine was privileged to be invited to spend time with Torvill and Dean, the ice skating sensations, talking about their forthcoming ‘Off Ice’ Royal Variety Performance at the Palladium in conjunction with Roller Disco. Look out for this interview in the London Skate Crew Blog.


Other truly inspiring moments in her career so far have included interviewing and meeting Chris Fox, a true inspiration and our UK Senior Artistic Roller Skating Champion,who is about to represent the UK at the European and World Champi0onships.
